Building Your Home in Mexico ? Part 3 ? Planning the Process & the ...

Yesterday and Tuesday I discussed the three first considerations when building a home in Mexico:

  1. Know what they want
  2. Know their budget
  3. Find a professional builder

Building your home in MexicoAs I mentioned yesterday, these three items should be considered even during the process of choosing and buying the appropriate?Mexico land for sale. Today, let?s consider what a professional construction expert will do for their client.

The professional a property owner chooses to oversee their process should:

  • have plenty of experience
  • offer a complete turn-key style service that will take care of coordinating all steps in the process, encompassing everything from doing feasibility studies, entitlement and infrastructure to the finishing details
  • know English and Spanish
  • have good references; be sure to check these references and actually call them
  • offer a good communication system or method

In the Playa del Carmen real estate area, there are both Americans and Mexicans who offer this kind of service and have experience working with clients at a distance; in other areas, a real estate agent will be able to help buyers find such professionals. Americans and Canadians can confidently choose either American or Mexican professionals, provided they meet the criteria above.

The professional should also have experience in the type of project that the buyer is interested in; e.g. if a buyer wants to build a large luxury home with a pool, etc., they should choose a professional who has overseen this kind of construction.? The same is true if they want to build a small boutique hotel, for example.? This is also true of property type and location; for example, if a buyer is considering Mexico beachfront for sale, they will do well to work with a professional who is familiar with the special permits needed to build on the beachfront.

Building your home in MexicoOne of the main focuses most property owners will have is the design; however, as construction expert Hawthorne Flaherty points out, ?a successful project cannot just be based on the design; it also has to be based on the scope of the project, what was included, the schedule and the budget.? And all three of those things affect the success, the overall success.?

Clients carefully need to choose the professional best for their needs and check qualifications and references.? Of course, there will be a cost, but this cost will be more than balanced out by complications that are later avoided.

Once these basic considerations have been taken, a property owner can then move to choosing a design that is suitable for their budget and needs, as well as for the lot if they have already bought it.

Knowing the budget and the desired end product are essential; for most property owners, working with an experienced professional to oversee the process from beginning to end is likewise invaluable.

Remember that tomorrow is the end of an era ? not the end of the world; this also means it?s the beginning of a new era.? What better way to welcome a new era than to have that dream home built in Mexico that you?ve always been dreaming about!
