The presence will help BWise address the increasing interest of Asian financial institutions and other enterprises for risk management, compliance and internal audit solutions to get in control of their key financial and reputational risks.
The decision was announced days after the Bank of Thailand decided to impose the Basel III on January 1, 2013.
"Through the opening of our Asian regional office, BWise increases its commitment to this important region. The economies of Thailand and other Southeast Asian countries have expanded. We see this region as an emerging GRC market due to its regulated business environment and challenges in complying with international regulations such as Basel III for banks," said Rob van Straten, Global Head of Sales at BWise.
Van Straten said that there is interest from banks and large enterprises across the region seeking GRC solutions, such as the BWise Risk Management, Internal Audit and Compliance solutions, and combining these initiatives into one integrated GRC platform.
BWise, together with its local partner, Yip In Tsoi, and consultant partner, Marc Leipoldt from Global Risk Advisory Services (GRAS), will organise a round table meeting in Bangkok on January 24.
Danai Wangsiri of Yip In Tsoi, said, "As a regional partner of BWise, we are able to serve prospective clients and support BWise with Asian companies that are highly interested in implementing GRC software. Now that BWise is also located in Bangkok, we can further continue to strengthen our commitment to and the development of the GRC market in Asia."
